Local stars honoured at The Essex Sports Awards 2008 Sports stars from Essex were awarded accolades at the prestigious 2008 Essex Sports Awards held in Chelmsford on Thursday 6th November. The Essex Sports Awards, hosted by sportessex, celebrate and recognise the very best in sport within the county and the people who participate, support its provision and invest personally in its ongoing development. Over 200 guests, including dignitaries, athletes and coaches, attended the event to see who scooped the ten awards up for grabs from the three finalists shortlisted in each category. Continuing the pathway of recognition from local awards to county - the winners from The Essex Sports Awards 2008 have been automatically entered into the BBC East Region Sports Awards on Monday 8th December and we are pleased to confirm that we have two Essex athletes shortlisted for the East Regional Awards - Daniel Bently (Disabled Sports Personality of the Year) and Abigail Ryan (Young Sports Personality of the Year). We wish them both the best of luck! Click here to view photos from the awards... Photos kindly supplied by Paula Davies / Essex Life Magazine
