What is your Paralympic sport? Clubs across the County have embraced the Essex Disability Sport Academy - which aims to encourage people with disabilities to play sport and to unearth potential Paralympians of the future.

What is the Essex Disability Sport Academy?

The Academy is a network of Paralympic Sport Clubs, which can provide athletes with high quality coaching and competitive opportunities. These Clubs have experience of developing athletes and progressing through the sports performance pathways.

All the Academy clubs work with their respective National Governing Bodies.

With more Sports and Clubs becoming involved with this initiative it is enabling a coordinated approach to participant recruitment, coach development, talent identification and pathways, marketing support and funding opportunities that makes it easier for clubs and participants to succeed.

Essex Disability Sport Academy has been developed by sportessex and disability charity Optua, with the purpose of raising aspirations by increasing awareness of participation opportunities and personal achievements in Paralympic sports in Essex.
